Minimize your homepage – server do less, browser do less.

After optimizing images using WebP format the performance figures changed

ie better results on faster mobile and desktop. But the Mobile figure was still bad.

I did a couple of things:

  1. Set the height dimension on the Featured image block inside the Recent posts query loop
  2. Eliminated the NextGEN gallery slideshow
  3. Replaced the slide-anything shortcode by the Carousel block.
